Cristalla Co., Ltd. is in the business of sugar industry and biomass electric power plants. The Company owns 4 sugar mills, obtained through auction purchases from the Sugar Mills Organization of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry, according to the Government’s privatization policy :

Chon Buri Sugar Mill : bought from the Ministry of Finance in 1988; the Mill itself was established in 1955, at Ban Bueng District, Chon Buri Province, with a capacity of 7,635 tons/day of sugarcane, approved for expansion to 12,000 tons/day of sugarcane. The mill operates under the name of “Chon Buri Sugar Industry Co., Ltd.” Presently the mill is faced with a problem of insufficient sugarcane supply potential in the mill area, resulting in high competition for raw material, driving the cost of production to escalate and the investment returns below the break-even point. The Company has been forced to stop milling temporarily since the production season of 2007/08.

Mae Wang Sugar Mill : bought from the Ministry of Industry in the year 1998,it is the first sugar mill in Thailand, established in 1937, at Ko Kha District, Lampang Province, according to the idea of Gen. Phraya Phaholpolphayuhasehna, the then Prime Minister. The present capacity is 2,936 tons/day of sugarcane, with permission to expand to 18,000 tons/day of sugarcane, and relocate the mill to a new location in Bueng Samakkhi District, Kamphaeng Phet Province and presently in the process of relocation. It operates as a legal entity under the name of “Mae Wang Sugar Industry Co., Ltd.”.

Uttaradit Sugar Mill : bought from the Ministry of Industry in 1998, being the second sugar mill in Thailand, established in 1941, at Wang Kaphi District, Uttaradit Province, with a capacity of 2,683 tons/day of sugarcane, with permission to expand to 18,000 tons/day of sugarcane, and relocate the mill to a new location in Si Satchanalai District, Sukhothai Province and presently in the process of relocation. It operates as a legal entity under the name of “Uttaradit Sugar Industry Co., Ltd.”.

Suphan Buri Sugar Mill :bought from the Ministry of Industry in 1998, being the fourth Government sugar mill, established in 1957, at Sam Chuk District, Suphan Buri Province, being the first sugar mill in Thailand which produces refined sugar in the Raw-Refined system in the year 1972, and in the year 1990 the product received a standard certification from the Thai Industrial Standard Institute, Ministry of Industry (TISI). The present capacity is 4,228 tons/day of sugarcane, with permission to expand capacity to 18,000 tons/day of sugarcane and permitted to relocate the Mill as appropriate, depending on the source of sugarcane supply. It operates as a legal entity under the name of “Suphanburi Sugar Industry Co., Ltd.”.
Cristalla Co., Ltd. Group, under the management policy of Mr. Charoen Siriwatthanaphakdi, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer discerns the importance of economic crops such as sugarcane and therefore determines to develop the sugar industry and down stream industries, such as applying bagass which is a waste material from the production of sugar as fuel for the production of steam for electric power. The construction projects of building two new sugar mills have been already approved by the Government which shall include biomass powered electric plants, which is clean energy to help mitigating Global Warming environment :

In addition, on the part of the electric power plants, the Company sets target to develop the projects and apply for certification of Clean Development Mechanism.

A determination to develop agro-industry in the production of sugarcane and sugar, and develop upstream industries to increase value added to the products, with an awareness of the environment, secured profession and improved quality of life of agriculturists.

• Electric Power Plants Business Group operates production of electric power plants using bagass as fuel, for consumption in the sugar mills and the excess power sold to the Provincial Electric Authority, being a recycled energy which generates sustainable development and is environmental friendly.
